Our Majestic Region
From the ridges to the forests and fertile farmland of our valley, this region has a special character that has captured the hearts and imaginations of generations. As the farmers, entrepreneurs, land owners, and leaders of this area, we are the stewards of this land, and we share the responsibility of preserving its character for our children’s children.
Rondout-Esopus Land Conservancy relies on the generosity and forward-thinking of our community members. Together we have protected nearly 4,500 acres of meadows, mountains, streams, wetlands, farmlands, and forests in Ulster County. And we still have more work to do.
Aside from protecting your land, there are many ways to join local conservation efforts, from volunteering to making a monetary donation to partnership opportunities and serving on the board.
Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated. Volunteering opportunities range from helping to monitor easements to producing newsletters, posting on social media, or supporting RELC’s events. Volunteering is a great way to learn more about land conservation and stewardship for the protection of open spaces.
If you would like to assist in our mission by volunteering, please send an email to info@relandconservancy.org.

RELC is a Primarily Volunteer-Run Nonprofit Organization
Rondout-Esopus Land Conservancy is committed to preserving the open space of our watersheds and protecting biodiversity for the benefit of all. Whether or not you have land to preserve you can contribute to our mission.
As a volunteer-run nonprofit organization, we rely on donations for overhead and operational costs as well as for the acquisition, maintenance, and enforcement of easements.
Community & Collaboration
We are always looking for ways to partner with people and organizations that have similar or complementary goals—other land trusts, farmers, and locavores. Please contact us at info@relandconservancy.org with ideas you have about how we can work together.
